Zoran Bičanin

Cellist Zoran Bičanin finished his master’s degree in the class of Prof. Miloš Mlejnik at the Academy of Music Ljubljana. During his studies he regularly attended masterclasses by globaly renowned musicians - Thomas Grossenbacher, Igor Mitrović, Marc Coppey, Wen-Sinn Yang and others, while taking part in many national and international competitions in Slovenia, Italy and Croatia.

He is a co-founder of Ljubljanski Solisti and has been the ensemble’s solo cellist since 2010. He is also active in a jazz music project »The Port of Life« by the New York City based drummer Žan Tetičkovič.

After taking interest in conducting, he became a student of Prof. Marko Letonja and Doc. Simon Dvoršak at the Academy of Music Ljubljana. In June 2019 he attained his Bachelor’s degree in Orchestral conducting and was awarded the Prešeren Award of Academy of Music Ljubljana for his artistic achievements.

As a conductor he has recently been working with RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra while teaching Cello and Chamber music at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana, where he is sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for music with the younger generation.
